Cao Bang P&T

Being a northern border province 900-1,000m above sea level with over 90 percent of its terrain encompassing rugged forests and mountains, Cao Bang faces numerous challenges in developing information and communications services.

However, right from its inception in the early 1999, Cao Bang P&T has been progressing step by step, and now consists of a modern post and telecommunications network, meeting growing social requirements effectively.

Presently, with the application of TDX-1B, RSS Rax 256, RAX 128 and DTS switching systems, the provincial telephone network now has a handling capacity of 11,530 lines. The provincial transmission system consists of around 30 ground stations located at high mountain peaks. The province operates 516 liaison channels with six satellite ones (VSAT) to serve areas of tough terrain. Up to 108 provincial communes have telephone lines in the total of 189, while 40/42 border communes have telephones. The number of telephone subscribers in the province is now 7,300, averaging 1.48/100 residents, equal to that in the plain areas.

Cao Bang Province now accommodates 35 post bureaux and 113 agents. Mail items, newspapers and magazines reach 8/10 districts and 90/189 communes within a day, using specialised motorised mail carriers.

By 2005, the plan of Cao Bang P&T is to bring telephone lines to 100 percent of its provincial communes.

Not standing on past achievements, Cao Bang P&T expects to be fulfilling all plans and targets beyond expectations, responsive to the commitment "precision-safety-convenience-civility". This is also what Cao Bang P&T brings together to enter the new millennium.
