Some information about Tien Giang

 

        A province in Mekong River Delta, the rice granary of Vietnam, Tien Giang has vast areas of durian, mango, rambutan and other delicious tropical fruit trees. Its provincial capital is My Tho. Taking a boat ride for 45 minutes on the Mekong River from My Tho, you will reach Thoi Son Island where you can visit lush orchards and taste delicious fresh fruits. Built in 1849, Vinh Trang Pagoda is famous for its 60 wooden statues, particularly a set of 18 Arhat statues, one of the greatest masterpieces of the Vietnamese plastic arts. In Dong Tam Snake Farm, many species of snakes are raised for research and many snake-based medicines are produced. At Cai Be Floating Market, you can enjoy the folk cultural activities of the inhabitants in the western part of Nam Bo (South-Vietnam). After shopping in this market, you will visit orchards on Tan Phong Island, which is best known for its vast rambutan gardens.
