Vinh Phuc P&T

 

Vinh Phuc P&T was established in July of 1997 by splitting from the former Vinh Phu P&T. Vinh Phuc P&T began operating with an inadequate asset base, lacking a HOST switching system as well as experienced staff.

With assistance from the authorities and especially the sector's leadership, Vinh Phuc P&T has modernized its asset base and developed its posts and telecommunications network. Vinh Phuc P&T has recorded encouraging results since it has always exceeded assigned goals; the telecommunications network has been invested and expanded to include more advanced equipment and technology to serve increasing customer demands. By the end of October of 1999, 100 percent of the communes of Vinh Phuc had access to telephones. The rate of 0.54 telephone per 100 residents in 1997 increased to 1.6 in late 2000. Nearly 100 percent of provincial communes had village post office and cultural places by the same time. Telephone growth was rapid with the number of telephones developed in 2000 equal to 133.23 percent of the year's projection and 57 percent higher than in 1999.

The achievement is attributed to Vinh Phuc P&T manpower development strategy. Vinh Phuc P&T leadership has paid attention to applying initiatives and experience to management and exploitation of its posts and telecommunications network while considering staff training important for satisfying various development demands and providing new services. Vinh Phuc P&T Director Nguyen Van Thanh said that in the years to come, Vinh Phuc P&T will strengthen staff training and consistently develop its posts and telecommunications network in compliance with system modernization and digitization while developing such services as the Internet, e-mail and video phone. lt will try to attain an annual growth of 9-10 percent and approach a goal of 100 percent of provincial communes having village post office and cultural places by 2003 and 3.5-4.0 telephones for each 100 residents by 2005.
