Structure:
- STAREX-WLL
architecture consists of BSC (Base Station Controller)
BTS (Base Station
Transceiver Subsystem), BSM (Base Station Manager), and FSU (Fixed Subscriber
Unit).
- Customers can use two kinds of FSU. One is FWT (Fixed Wireless
Terminal) and the other is FWP (Fixed Wireless Phone).
- STAREX-WLL can
accommodate mobile subscribers.
System specifications:
- STAREX-WLL has two
kinds of BSC. One is V5.2 BSC, and the other is R2/SS7 BSC. The choice of BSC
can be determined by the existing local switch to which BSC is connected. R2/SS7
BSC acts as a local exchange with self-switching function, and is connected to a
remote office through R2 or SS7 while V5.2 BSC acts as AN of LE so that number
translation, billing function and supplementary services are provided by
LE.
- STAREX-WLL BTS is available in both the 800 MHz and 1.9 GHz frequency
bands. The outdoor type is suited for remote service areas and the indoor type
for controlledenvironment. BTS sizing is flexible. Usually, Compact type can be
effectivelyinstalled in high-density area while Micro/Pico type is suited for
relatively low-density area.
Technical specifications:
- Selector/Vocoder
channel capacity- 1,920 CH (R2/SS7)/1,024CH (V5.2)
- Subscriber capacity (0.1

- Input voltage (compact BTS): +24V DC
System features:
STAREX-WLL is based on
CDMA technology for multiple access method and serves as the basis of 3G
wireless technology. STAREX-WLL has the following technical features:
CID
(Caller ID Display): Using FSK (Frequency Shift Keying) signal,
caller's identity can be displayed on the LCD of called party's phone
Overlap
dialing: In
case of cellular and PCS service, the dialing method is based on "En bloc"
dialing. However, "Overlap" dialing method is developed for the purpose of
allowing WLL users to hear dial tone just after hook-off like PSTN users.
STAREX-WLL can support both "Overlap" and "En bloc" dialing.
