Till the end of October, Vietnam has had 160.8 million phone subscribers, a year-on-year rise of 40.2 percent, of which 144.4 million mobile phone subscribers.
Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has developed 72 million new phone subscribers, increasing 32 percent year-on-year.
The group’s revenue in Jan-October reached 67.5 trillion dong, rising 25.9 percent y-o-y and revenue of the post and telecommunications sectors was 104 trillion dong, increasing 28.3 percent y-o-y, reported GSO.
However, it is noticeable that the number of new fixed phone subscribers in Jan-October decreased 39.6 percent from the same period last year.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Le Nam Thang, said that the fixed telephone tended to decrease. But, according to Thang, this problem happens not only in Vietnam but also an inevitable trend because of the convenience as well as reasonable prices of mobile phone services./.
