The Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT) held a conference named “VNPT for the Community” on November 19th to review the results of its social activities over the past few years.
Alongside its business plans, VNPT has drawn up a ‘social-corporate responsibility strategy’ with clear objectives to direct its activities toward the community. Particularly, it contributed VND 86 billion to needy people and targeted communities across the country in 2009, the figure in 2010 was VND 113billion and VND 118billion in 2011.
According to reports at the conference, over the past three years, VNPT has provided great supports for local socio-economic development of the two mountainous districts of Sin Ho and Muong Te. The two localities have seen positive changes and now have infrastructure, economic, cultural and educational facilities for long-term and sustainable development.
In addition, VNPT also donates hundreds of million of Vietnamese dong to soldiers and people in islands every year. In 2011 only, it provided VND 200 million for soldiers and people in Spratly Islands, another VND 200 million, computers, and insurance cards for people and children in Ly Son island.
During the conference, VNPT decided to present VND 500 million to the Fund for the Poor, VND 500 million to the Fund for the Beloved Spratly’s and 100 accident insurance certificates worth VND 1 billion for the Ly Son Island Fishery Association.
